“EVERY YEAR 67,000 CHILDREN HAVE ACCIDENTS IN THE KITCHEN. THE WORST INJURIES USUALLY OCCURE FROM SPILT HOT LIQUIDS AS KIDS REACH UP WHILE EXPLORING”

CHALLENGE
It’s natural kids will explore and accidents will happen. However it seems illogical that cookware manufacturers haven’t researched and addressed this issue. Considering the life changing effects of these accidents, Honcook sought to again lead the market in looking for an innovative and cost effective solution.

SOLUTIONS
After reading a wide variety of academic papers, we found the most common injury leading to child surgery was burns to the feet. This stemmed from containers of hot liquid falling and covering the floor with scalding hot liquid or oil. Our solution was to develop a lid lock system, ensuring that when the cookware hit the floor, the fluid inside was contained. Importantly, the lid could still also vent steam.
