“HONCOOK HAD DEVELOPED A THERMOCHROMIC PIGMENT WHICH TEMPORARILY CHANGED COLOUR DURING COOKING”

CHALLENGE
Thermochromic pigments are often seen on novelty mugs as a playful gimmick. However Honcook sells innovative cookware, and so the colour change effect had to be more subtle and artistic. Alongside this, the team wished to convey the development of their business as part of Made In China 2025.
“THIS PROJECT RISKED BECOMING GIMMICKY IF THE ART STYLE WASN’T BEAUTIFUL AND CULTURALLY INFORMED”

SOLUTIONS
Our team looked across China to discover the sights and hue’s iconic to each landmark which could inspire our range. Using small scale testing, we studied the colour change to calculate which pigments would be needed in each series.
