CHALLENGE
This project would focus in on the way the design of a steamer could be improved. Our research showed that many people use the steamer to wash vegetables instead of purchasing and using a colander.
“DESIGN ISN’T JUST ABOUT ADDING MORE. IN FACT MOST DESIGNING INVOLVES DOING MORE WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF MATERIAL OR EVEN LESS.”




SOLUTIONS
The solution was a multifunctional piece of cookware, comprising of a stockpot, steamer/colander and lid. This allowed it to perform 4 key functions. Firstly the steamer diffused bubbles preventing boiling. Secondly, the steamer could be used as a colander to wash vegetables. Thirdly, the cookware could safely steam food. And finally, it was able to drain water while retaining food from spilling out
